arne jacobsen's cylinda line is the most commercially
successful application of formalist principles for home consumption.
based on the form of the cylinder it included and extensive range
of table and cookware. the range was developed from 1964 to 1967
in conjunction with its manufacturer, stelton. the semiautomated
equipment and modern welding techniques used to create the pieces
gave a rigorous precision to their production, yielding sleek surfaces
and crisp forms. machine tooling also allowed the geometrical regularity
of the thin-bodied stainless-steel wares to be maintained regardless
of size. the set-off black nylon handles were likewise formally
conceived. their dark rectangular outlines and interior arcs serving
as foils for the shimmering cylindrical vessels. to order or enquire fe@globalpiece.com
